Does my car have a transponder key?
Nearly all modern cars & vans have 'Transponder keys', a transponder is a small micro chip which sends a signal to the car when the key is inserted into the ignition switch turning the immobiliser off, this is fixed inside the key fob part of the key near to the blade, Be careful if you dismantle a 'remote key' fob to change a battery (For the central locking) as the transponder chips easily fall out and get lost. Key coding is also know as transponder programming. The transponder is not the central locking fob - Normal non remote keys still have transponders.
